Police said Ms Hamka told family members she was going to visit a friend in Brighton before she was reported missing on April 15. Her body is yet to be found.

Last month detectives charged Ms Hamka’s former boyfriend â€" 41-year-old Brighton man Toby Loughnane â€" with murder before he was remanded in custody at Melbourne Magistrates Court.

Court documents released to The Age show police allege Mr Loughanne murdered his ex-girlfriend at a property in Brighton on April 11, a day after she was last seen.

On Wednesday, Victoria Police revealed missing person squad detectives had arrested a second man as part of their ongoing investigation into Ms Hamka’s suspicious disappearance.

That second man, a 26-year-old from Richmond, is expected to be interviewed on Wednesday.

A police spokeswoman said the force’s investigation into Ms Hamka’s disappearance remained ongoing as they continue to appeal for public information surrounding the movements of a red 2015 Mazda 3 hatchback, which had distinctive damage to the front left guard.

“The vehicle has been seized by investigators, however police are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the car between Tuesday, 13 April, through to Thursday, 15 April, 2021,” they said.

“Investigators believe that during this period, the vehicle made a number of trips to and from the Brighton area and was being driven by a sole male occupant during this time.”

Ms Hamka is described as being about 165 centimetres tall, of thin build, with long black hair, brown eyes and olive complexion.

Detectives urged anyone with information about Ms Hamka’s whereabouts to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 222 000, or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
