Bolton lowest coronavirus infection rate in Greater Manchester
Bolton is once again recording the lowest coronavirus infection rate in Greater Manchester after a drop in new cases.
The number of new positive Covid-19 cases had been increasing in early-October across the UK, with Trafford recording the highest infection rate in the country at one point.
However, this has now begun to fall again across Greater Manchester, with Bolton recording the lowest rate of cases in the region.
This is after Bolton was the first borough to see a spike in cases due to the spread of the Delta variant in May.
Surge testing and vaccination was brought in to bring this under control with the town's infection rate dropping rapidly after this.

This is a fall from the previous seven days, to October 18, where the borough recorded 873 new positive cases at a rate of 302.9 per 100,000 residents.
