War orphans were treated to all the fun of Farnworth Fair
This photo from the archives is a poignant reminder of the price paid by so many Bolton families during the Second World War.
Taken in 1952 it shows what the Evening News described as âwar orphansâ enjoying a free ride at Farnworth Fair. The treat had been organised by the Farnworth Missing and War Relativesâ Club and over 35 youngsters were the guests of the club.
The youngsters, many in their Sunday best, all look fairly serious on the photograph but hopefully they had a good time.
